Cambodia: Koh Ta Kiev

Aahhh, my beloved Koh Ta Kiev, back for the second time. What to tell about this place. Not that much and so unbelievable much, this is the place to be to do absolutely nothing. I slept in a dorm, when you can hear the sea at night, you wake up and you greeted by the sun, after breakfast you're the looking for a hammock and that's it. Everything takes place around the treehouse, I mentioned this island before in another chapter (16), you're intertwined with nature. I will upload a video of the treehouse, unimaginable, if you're Peter Pan forever and ever.
I think I read 5 books in a week. As soon as it became to warm or you needed some freshness you went to the sea. A place with no wifi, no running water, electricity only during the evening, this place is just fantastic. Funny thing is that the people that work there are European travelers who fell in love with this place, as I did, and just got stuck. A Spanish lady was there for a year and a half and also a Dutch lady who did not want to travel any further.
We all suffered from the same 'illness', getting tired of traveling. I mentioned it a couple of times. In the beginning I thought it was just me, but everyone has it who I met on the road and were traveling for more than 4 months. You need a holiday within a holiday!
Sounds weird, but I was not the only one.
And that's what I did, hanging around for a week, reading, chilling, enjoying, during the night playing with illuminated plankton while swimming in the sea. I wish I could tell you more, but I can't. This island is a gem and it should always be like this. Time doesn't count, days don't matter, reality drifts away....you only got punched in the face as you notice that you need to go back to the real world...got 2 blacks eyes, and I will wear them always with dignity and proud as a memory of how life can be or how it should be.
After Koh Ta Kiev I stayed 2 weeks in a luxurious resort, warm water, a tv, a swimming pool, good wifi...a massive contrast, I know. Traveling will come to an end at some point. Going back to Cambodia was a realization that this trip will end and that the door of the hard real world must be opened at some stage. I had definitely doubts to move on again, but the '2-week resort thing' made me uneasy, energy came back, this is not the way to end my trip, hell no. Battery at 120%, I started making the preparations for the journey to Palawan in the Philippines. Quickest way: 3 flights within 24 hours and a bus trip of 5 hours, well yeah I'm used to this. I think I have travelled, I know I have travelled  more than 40.000 kilometers....I have travelled around the world!
There are still 2 things I want to do, Laguna hopping and climbing a volcano. Mount Punatubo erupted in 1991, that one I really want to see.

Wat een fantastische plaatjes Luuk! Heel gaaf! En ja heel herkenbaar, de vermoeidheid van het reizen. Wij hebben halverwege op Bali een vakantie ingepland tijdens onze reis en dat was echt nodig! Veel plezier nog en geniet!!!
