Chapter Thirty Three: Sepang, Formula One, Max

30 september 2016 - Kuala Lumpur, Maleisië

First day on the Sepang International circuit, I am so excited as a little kid a couple of days before Sinterklaas (Santa Claus). Today it is quite and i have free access to all the places. It sat at the main stand, opposite the pitbox of max. Ahh formula one, a dream comes true. I am a fan, though green as leave when it comes to visiting races, this is my first one!!
I explored all the stands and places and just enjoyed the atmosphere. It is blistering hot and humid, tough conditions for the drivers. The whole weekend will be hot and the changes of rain are slim, thats a shame. Rain causes chaos and thats more entertainment. But the heat can cause problems as well, well just wait and see.

It is are big event with several races, there is so much to do that that I have no problems to have a good weekend. What stands out is the noise, the gasoline smell and the speed of the cars. I already noticed that it is much better to make video's than photo's. Video's capture the moment much better and to zoom in you need a mega lens. Btw chapter 33 refers to Max' number 33.

Second day, qualififcations and the last free practise session, plus the races of gp2, gp3 and the trc. There much more people now, espcially Aussies, if you hear fuck three times in one sentence you know there from Australia. There are plenty of  , Canadian and England. My location is on a Hill site, standing places. Almost the cheapest that are available, but in my opinion also the best ones. From here I can see roughly 60% of the circuit and as a bonus two breaking zones, here I expect to see the take over manouvres. It turned out be a very good decision.
I paid 50 euro's for my ticket for the whole weekend, that's a joke compared to European races. I think it is cheaper to book a holiday to Malaysia for a week, including the race and still it should be cheaper than buying a ticket for Spa or Silverstone.

Raceday, temperatures rice again to 36 degrees. Now it is quite busy but still I have a lovely place, good view, so the race may start. It must be said, it is difficult to oversee the race, the first cars are easily to follow, but the rest of the pack is more difficult. But I am in the frontseat of all the action, all the takeover manouvres are happening in front of my nose. The crash of grosjean, the comeback of Rosberg, how the wheel spinned of the car of guiterrez, and of cours the battle between Ricardo and Verstappen. But like I mentioned the overview is sometimes difficult to follow, it took me a couple of laps to realise that Hamilton blow up his engine and that red bull were 1 and 2. But with so much action on the track, i was happy that i took this race. I definitely will go to another race, a life event is more tangible than sitting in front of a tv, compare it with a football game; live or behind the tv.

Next year maybe...I am here again, who knows.

Now heading to tioman island, for the noise and gasoline smell to, yeah to what actually....
